Benefits Enrollment

Whether you’re a new hire or experiencing a qualifying life event, see below for important information regarding benefits enrollment and the 2020-21 plan year. Additionally check out the Benefits FAQ for answers to many frequently asked questions.

Enrolling & Making Changes

You have three opportunities to enroll in or make changes to your benefit elections:

  1. Within 31 days of your hire date
  2. During the annual open enrollment period (closed for FY 2020-21)
  3. Within 31 days of a Qualifying Life Event. Examples include:
    • Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
    • Birth or adoption of a child
    • Death of a dependent
    • Loss or gain of other health coverage for you and/or dependents
    • Change in employment status
    • Change in Medicaid/Medicare eligibility for you or a dependent
    • Receipt of a Qualified Medical Child Support Order

The choices you make are in effect from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.

What’s New for FY 2020-21?

Restructured and Additional Medical Plans. All medical plans have been restructured to offer flexible coverage options to meet your financial and care needs. For this plan year, you have 6 total plan options. Benefits and premiums have changed so please review and compare plans carefully.

Reduced Medical Premiums on All Plans! While the cost of healthcare has continued to rise across the nation, we are proud to have been able to reduce medical plan costs across all plans – even while adding and expanding our existing benefits.

New Medical Plan Carrier – Cigna. Medical plans previously offered through UnitedHealthcare will now be offered by Cigna. We will continue to offer medical plans through Kaiser Permanente as well.

State of Colorado Benefits Site. Review this site for full plan information, documents, links, resources, and notices.

Expanded Telemedicine. You have access to qualified physicians who can prescribe many common prescription drugs without having to go to the doctor’s office. Telemedicine is available for a low copay for Cigna participants and free for Kaiser participants.

Enhanced Vision Coverage. Based on demand, you now have the option to buy-up to the EyeMed Enhanced vision plan which includes additional vision coverage. The EyeMed base vision plan will continue to be included with your medical coverage.

Additional Paladina Health Locations for Cigna Members. Paladina Health will be expanding their locations this year. Look for new clinics in Thornton, Greeley, Southwest Littleton, and Lowry/Stapleton, Montrose, Alamosa, and Durango in 2021.

Consider Your Dependents

Have you welcomed a new child? Were you recently married? Now is your opportunity to make sure your eligible dependents have coverage.

Enroll Online

Enrollment is easy! Log in at www.benefitsolver.com using your username and password. If you are a first-time user, click Register and enter the Company Key: soc.

Confirm Your Elections

Review your benefits summary carefully to make sure your benefits and dependent information is correct. Print your elections and confirmation number for future reference.

Medical Supplement Program

The Medical Supplement Program is a subsidy provided by the State of Colorado to assist low-income state employees and their children with the cost of their medical and dental premiums. The application period will begin on the first day of open enrollment and will end Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Learn more at www.colorado.gov/dhr/supplement-program.
